Purpose of the Job

A fantastic new opportunity within Brown Shipley for a Financial Risk Manager, with a background in Private Banking or Wealth Management, to join the team in London located just a few minutes walk from Bank tube station.

Key Accountabilities

1. Support &/or supervise the completion of a series of oversight controls that have been designed to mitigate the firm’s financial risks. 
2. Support the recognition of unusual / adverse trends in key risk metrics that require investigation. Establish the underlying cause, provide a clear explanation &/or a proposed course of remedial action. 
3. Understand relevant risk management policy / criteria, provide guidance to the business, and enforce policy, where necessary. 
4. Support &/or assist in the preparation and evaluation of periodic reports relating to key risks taken by the bank in all its activities for the Board / senior management.
5. Support the development of risk mitigation / monitoring procedures within the bank, particularly re Prudential Risks (e.g capital, liquidity, and market risk). 
6. Participate &/or lead key Prudential Risk initiatives such as the ICAAP, Recovery Planning & RST (inc. associated stress testing processes).  
7. Participate in the bank's Climate Risk project, ensuring the business understands this emerging risk and adapts its strategy / processes appropriately, in order to effectively manage the financial risks from Climate change.
8. Participate in the bank's Prudential Risk horizon scanning programme, ensuring that relevant regulatory change is identified and appropriate actions are taken.
9. Support the development of 2nd line investment risk monitoring procedures (i.e. performance / volatility), considering client portfolios and Managed Fund solutions.
10. Co-ordinate &/or support the development of the bank's Model Risk Management (MRM) framework, alongside Group colleagues, to deliver a robust MRM framework, ensuring continued adherence with UK regulatory requirements.
11. Represent the Risk Management team in relevant governance meetings.
12. Work with and support the delivery of the Financial Risk and broader UK Risk function objectives, as part of the Quintet Risk team.
13. Recognise that consumer duty (i.e. supporting and delivering good customer outcomes) is at the core of how we conduct our business. 
14. Develop own professional expertise through on the job training, formal training and, where appropriate, professional qualifications. 

Knowledge and Experience

Knowledge of the financial services industry, ideally banking and/or wealth management.
Knowledge of Financial Risk Management, particularly in respect of prudential risks such as capital / liquidity adequacy, stress testing, etc.
Knowledge of investment risk controls and oversight associated with the management of client assets, an advantage.
Comfortable working in an environment with changing priorities, working on various tasks simultaneously.
